I´m still looking for more experimental stuff in the present video culture. Still under the influence of the dirty vintage I love the naiv filming which somehow looks like it´s shot incidentally but actually is composed. These are some inspirational clips I found in the last time. I´m excited how this direction is influencing me in my future projects.

“The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case.” – Chuck Close

Elisa and me took the chance of this special autumn light to shoot some small mood shots of her in Neukölln. I also tested my new Glidecam 4000 Pro which I really fell in love with. Thanks Elisa for being my model. Looking forward to our future projects.

Right now everybody is talking about the movie DRIVE. So yesterday we finally took the time to see what this film is all about. I like it but I love the soundtrack more. You know that I´m that Synthie Boy and the DRIVE soundtrack perfectly fits to my 80´s groove. So I did some research and what I found was this itzy glitzy pop universe with it´s crazy cool graphics. Definitely a must see and hear these days..

Bee Jay and me used our new office backyard to play around with some Glidecam shots. Without knowing he produced a little short with me and made a very nice post production. Thanks Bee-Jay and cool to have you in our gang.

You know we cant´t stand still and progress is one of our biggest claims. After I started filming I had the chance to meet a lot of nice people in front and behind my camera. One of them (next to Nico of course ;) ) was Clemens Poloczek of iGNANT with whom I realized more and more projects this year. So the next step for us is to bundle our power and work together under one name which is from now on SUPERIEST.

In the last weeks we worked hard to launch our new Portfolio Site where you can find our latest productions in different categories as well as background infos in the NEWS section.

Don´t worry, I will keep DT64 but I will change the concept of the site back to what it was first – my private blog with more privat output.

For everything related to Videos and productions – please check Superiest or follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Vimeo.

Lately we had this discussion about which kind of videos are getting the most klicks and if it´s about quality or not. Of cause a nice story and well produced video is always our goal (with nothing else we could be satisfied) but of cause we had the feeling that this is not everything. Last weekend I had the chance to proof that the newsfactor is also one of the most important things in online media. Having the story first makes the clicks.

So Sara and me made this little experiment with the Weekday Vintage Sale. We came there, shot and a couple of hours later we went online with the story. Nice Work! Within 35 hours we made about 14.500 Views on Vimeo and got 1100 Facebook Likes.

I don´t know how many times we started to put a mix together in the last months. I think we went through every genre and I could have presented you something in between UK, Postdubstep, Rap, Techno and so on. I don´t know why but somehow I always wasn´t happy with the selection. I think I don´t just want to present you the latest bangers we digg (and there are a lot).

What I like about mixes is not the party in it. What I like is that you can listen to them alone, at home, in your earphones, in your car. And in this very private situation I don´t want to rush you but I want you to calm down, chill out and reflect.
So this new mix is not a party and it´s not the newest shit out there. It´s just a mix of artists I like and some great music.

James Blake, Lykke Li, Nicolas Jaar, The Doors, The Cure, Yeasayer, Johnny Cash, Lana del Rey, Grinderman, M83, Neil Young and others.

You may recognized that I became a frequent traveler this year. So I thought it was about time to put together a small new ZEIT travel episode. On the vimeo channel you´ll find the locations.

Yesterday morning I had a little flirt with this charming lady at the Orient Express stopping in Innsbruck/Austria. She was traveling from London to Venice wich costs around 2300 Euro.

I think working in South Tyrol was one of the best jobs I ever did. When I came back to Berlin I felt like coming from a holiday and not from a “5 days / 2 shooting locations a day” week. It was great to work in such a beautiful environment and meet all those inspiring people. I also recognized that it is truly time for a change of my travel style. Instead of always heading to the big citys I wanna focus more on the simple things and take quality timeouts.

This is the first of three Episodes I shot in South Tyrol for iGNAN TV and i-ref magazine. Thanks to Judith and the whole SMG, Clemens, Norman and EEzy for making this happen. Check i-ref for more pictures and storys.

It was the last day of my short trip to Sao Paulo when we met Guto Requena. Shooting for different other FvF production projects I was kinda tired of filming but still curious enough to not miss an opportunity in Brasil. So we decided to meet up again with architectural and interior photographer Fran Parente and watch him shoot at Guto´s place. When we left the hotel I just grabbed my 550d with the 50/1.4 and some external audio (just in case) and didn´t expect to much. But when we arrived at Guto´s apartment I was so stoked about him and his style I just had to make something out of it. So I shot this little handheld and shaky video for Freunde von Freunden. After all it was fun just to work with the most essential equipment and I´m looking foward to Guto showing me around Sao Paulo next time. Thanks Timmy for the Interview.

Finally last weekend I had some time to enjoy the last summer days and took some pictures over at Makerplatz Festival in Kreuzberg for Finding Berlin. I liked the clash between the lovely Prinzessinnengärten and the new abstract Aufbauhaus right next to it. Click here for the full series of pictures with a contribution by Stefan Kaz.

I know I´ve been posting this before but when I first saw this speech of Steve Jobs at Stanford University it inspired me this much that I quit my job and actually do what I do today. So Thanks Steve Jobs for the Impact of your thoughts on my life and your visionaries thinking in general. “Stay Foolish! Stay Hungry!” Rest in Peace.
